Miriam C. and Raymond Rice Papers

The Miriam C. and Raymond Rice Papers rest in Special Collections at the UC Santa Cruz Library. The Rice family donated these materials to preserve them for all who are curious about their important work, now and into the future. These archives include Miriam’s research into mushroom dyeing, letters, articles, and the complete collection of Ray’s experimental films. But this description just scratches the surface, to learn more about the Miriam C. and Ray Rice Papers, please contact Alix Norton at abnorton@ucsc.edu.

Thanks to the CART Program, PhD candidates Sienna Ballou and Joseph Finkel have sorted and catalogued the papers. A collection guide will allow researchers to find all items online, and call up the physical entries to the Reading Room of Special Collections. The Elisabeth Remak-Honnef Center for Archival Research and Training (CART) integrates primary source materials more fully into the teaching and research mission of the university by providing hands-on archive experience for graduate students, while enhancing access to archival collections for all. https://guides.library.ucsc.edu/cart/about
