The Lynches and the Larkspur Boardwalk

“Sun Dog” From the collection of Emily Hanchett

My parents lived on the Boardwalk – the Anchor I think and were close friends with the Lynches – my dad was working on his Phd at Berkeley – we made pilgrimages there for several years in the sixties – apparently, if anything happened to my parents then the Lynches would adopt my brother and me – I remember thinking I wouldn’t mind that – my brother and I stayed with John and Phyl a few times – I regret over the years all the Phyl pots that have been broken or lost – wonderful memories – and yes, the house is still there – I drove by it a couple years ago – and met John’s nephew there right after John died – I have a few of my mother’s ashes and intend to scatter them on Corte Madera Creek one of these days since she was so happy there – though I think the creek probably took a toll on both John and Phyl – I’ve read how severely polluted it became and they swam in it so frequently.
