Thursdays Women
Beginning in the late 1970s my mom, Miriam Rice, was part of a women’s art group that met once/month on Thursdays. At one point they had a group show at a gallery in Mendocino called This is Not Art. I recently came across this photo and began sleuthing, who are these women, when was the photo taken?
It turns out the photo was taken around 1977. The women are, starting at bottom left, Marion Bacon, Arlene Reiss, Joan Burleigh, Gisela Lindner (with her daughter, Shona). Second row: seated Miriam, standing Judy Summers, seated Carmen Goodyear, Gerry Grace, with Jennifer Wolfman behind her.
There are still a couple of open questions: Who is the woman behind Jennifer? And is Patty Blackburn in this picture?
Thanks to Nancy Denison, Nancy Gardner, Pamela Hahn, Gisela Linder, and Arlene Reiss. This was 47 years ago but, as Nancy Drew, I was able to identify the members of Thursdays Women…more or less.
